Cold A Different Kind Of Pain Torrent
Summer is officially over; the change of season comes with change in temperature and an increase in ailments such as common cold. Common cold is a contagious viral disease that infects the soft lining (mucous membrane) of the nose. It is one of the most common infections around this time of the year. It affects adults at least two to three times each year, while children have it as many as six to eight times a year.
Most people get colds but are unsure how they catch them. One minute you are fine and the next, you can’t breathe through your nose or stop coughing. Common cold is caused by over 200 different viruses. The most common are rhinoviruses, coronaviruses, adenoviruses and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
Common cold virus spreads through direct contact with an infected person. When an infected person touches his nose or coughs on to his hand, he leaves thousands of microscopic virus particles on his skin and objects he touches. The next person to touch the object takes the virus with him.
