Up To Ten Parents
Three powerful books for families. Entertaining, provocative, and inspirational, these books will remain on their shelves for years. Unconditional Parenting is, of course, for the parents on your list. The latter two books are great gifts for children.
- Unconditional Parenting, by Alfie Kohn. Kohn, a psychologist by training and practice, is also a parent. Unlike other books on childcare, most of which are based on personal experience and anecdotal reference, Kohn’s book displays his scientific training. His theories and conclusions cite relevant research studies. What is unconditional parenting? It is unconditional love, applied with special care under the trying circumstances of raising children.
- Sara and the Foreverness of Friends of a Feather, by Esther and Jerry Hicks. This is a great book for the pre-teen, but don't be surprised to find adults enjoy it too. Sara, with the help of her wise owl-friend, Solomon, learns the power of positive thinking in an entertaining story.
- The Little Soul and the Sun, by Neale Donald Walsch. This book is suitable for the six to ten year old starting to wonder about life. This book describes the little soul who decides to return to human form to continue its infinite cycle alternating between human life experience and spiritual soul existence. Beautifully told, this story suggests that our human-experience adversaries and advocates are all soul volunteers, signed up before birth to provide our life experiences.
